While they may have the best intentions for you, their advice could be influenced by their own biases. Emotions, particularly jealousy, might also play a part. Here are a few reasons why understanding this dynamic is crucial:

Jealousy can cloud judgment

Jealousy can cause individuals to have a negative reaction towards someone else’s success or happiness.

This can lead to a skewed perspective. It can cause them to give advice that is not in your best interest.

They may unconsciously or consciously want to bring you down to their level or discourage you from reaching your goals.

They may not have the same perspective

Your friends and loved ones may not have the same perspective or experiences as you,

which can lead to them giving advice that is not relevant or appropriate for your situation.

They may not understand the full picture. They might not have the same goals as you. This can lead to them giving advice that is not beneficial for you.

They may not be aware of their jealousy

People may not be aware of the jealousy they feel and how it influences their actions and advice.

They may genuinely believe that the advice they are giving is in your best interest,

but it is important to be aware of the potential underlying emotions that may be influencing their advice.

They may not have your best interest at heart

While it can be difficult to accept, sometimes friends and loved ones may not have your best interest at heart.

They may be motivated by their own self-interest and may not be willing to give you unbiased advice.

In conclusion

it’s important to understand that friends and loved ones may not always have your best interest at heart. Their advice may be influenced by jealousy.

So important to be aware of this dynamic and to take their advice with a grain of salt.

It’s crucial to seek advice from various sources. This includes professionals and people who have gone through similar experiences. Doing so helps in getting a well-rounded perspective.

Remember, it’s important to be discerning. Trust your own instincts when making decisions that will impact your life.

  1. Finding the right advice from friends can be difficult, but it’s important to understand that their intentions may not always align with your best interests.

By being aware of the potential jealousy that can influence their advice, you can be better equipped to make informed decisions.

    • indeed !!!
Besides, it’s important to pay attention to our own biases and emotional reactions when accepting counsel from friends. We might get tempted to go with something that we would rather hear than what is reasonable for us. Keeping an open attitude and being honest with ourselves can result in more valid outcomes in the end.

        • Are you having difficulty recognizing your own biases? It is not an easy task, especially when those preferences are unconscious. Acknowledging and confronting our prejudices, however, can help us to maintain justice and equality in all areas of our lives: the way we communicate with people, make decisions, and solve problems.

  2. I would say only one thing for this “listen everyone, but obey your conscience”. I follow only this quote, taking advice from others makes us aware of different perspectives, and even negative suggestions may bring something constructive as we might need to improve on something. So listen to everyone but do your own.

    • I completely agree with your perspective. Listening to advice and suggestions from others can provide valuable insights and help us broaden our perspectives. However, at the end of the day, it is essential to trust our own intuition and follow our conscience when making decisions. Our conscience guides us in the right direction, and we should always remain true to our values and beliefs. By balancing the advice and feedback we receive with our own inner guidance, we can make informed and responsible decisions that align with our values and aspirations.
